Saturday morning Alexa woke us up super early and basically forced us to go to the beach. She just wouldn't have it any other way. So we were slumming it in our workout clothes all morning, came home around noon and bummed around for a few hours and finally got our act together, showered, got dressed and headed out for a froyo run.
Unfortunately for our Steppin' Out shots I look like a hot mess. I remember when I was a kid my mom would stay in her underwear while getting ready in the morning till the very last second. I'm beginning to see the wisdom in this. Factor in not having air conditioning, getting Alexa dressed, carrying her around the house and getting a bottle ready for our excursion plus being too hot to blow-dry my hair, and this is what you get: a woman on the verge of overheating whose hair is wet wet wet and in no hurry to dry. Oh, and today I decided to wear a tunic as a dress (totally out of my comfort zone, even wearing leggings ... so short!).
Alexa* was having none of it today. Not even this pastel candy-striped Baby Gap dress could make her crack a smile. She was such a serious baby during this photoshoot that I tried to make her laugh. This resulted in a bunch of goofy pics where I looked like a demented clown and she looked at me with the same doe eyes. No, I'm not sharing them, and you're very welcome.
H gave me the same pose 10 times, then complained that he didn't like any of the photos. But hey! Compared with me he looks like a supermodel. What's he doing with a hot mess like me?!
But do not feel too bad for our little family. We cooled off with some late afternoon breeze and some delicious frozen yogurt. Alexa drank her afternoon milk and smiled again. All is right in the world and we had a lovely Saturday!
*Yes, that's a scratch on her nose. She self-mutilates if I take even a day too long to trim those nails. Apparently once a week isn't often enough. Those talons grow like crazy.

love the cardigan! Great color
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice daughter and mother bonding picture, is this a family day
ReplyDeleteout? I bet your daughter has a collection of cute hair bows. She really looks
