I've long been a fan of Katie Blair Designs. Recently she started a project where she makes a print per week and offers them for sale in limited edition. This week's print is so awesome I had to share it with you. It speaks to me -- probably because I'm on this all-consuming "grand adventure" of motherhood. Although some days it feels less like adventure and more like being held captive in my condo with a needy newborn. But yeah, let's call it an adventure. Sounds more exciting! You can find the print here. See others in her 2011 Print of the Week series here.

Baby Talk
Dear Baby,
Four weeks ago you were born. Things that have changed since that day: Mommy is no longer on painkillers, Daddy is back at work and missing you every minute, you weigh more than 9 pounds, you don't like being swaddled anymore, Mommy refers to herself in the third person all of the time now. Last night you slept for SIX HOURS. We are hoping you'll keep it up. Fingers double-crossed. Things you like: listening to Mommy and Grandpa sing Beatles songs to you, meeting Uncle Chad and Aunt Kelly, going on car rides, sandwich hugs from Mommy and Daddy, making funny noises while you sleep. Things you don't like: baths, waiting too long to nurse, wet diapers.
Xoxo,
Mommy

Five things I'm lovin' right now ...

Eagerly anticipating The Strokes' new album next month. In the meantime listening to the first single, "Under Cover of Darkness."

The vibe of this photo. Loooove. [via]

"Don't Look Back" video by She & Him. So mod.

This sweater dress from Stella McCartney's ready-to-wear autumn collection.

White and Dark Hearted Brownies by Smitten Kitchen. Happy Valentine's Day!

Baby Talk

Dear Baby,
Two weeks old already! You had your checkup today, and the doctor is really happy with your progress ... except you need to stop falling asleep during feedings so you'll gain more weight. Mommy tries to tickle your feet to keep you awake, but you are happy to snooze and suckle absentmindedly at the breast. Sounds you make that make us smile: Little hunger grunts and bird coos. Faces you make that make us smile: the little "vampiro" look you get when you are aggressive about eating, the "Blue Steel" pursuing of the lips when you are tired of being burped.
Yesterday was my birthday, and I was so pleased to spend it with my little family. We had a scoop of ice cream at Baskin Robbins to celebrate. You are staying awake for longer intervals, and we can't wait to get to know you even better. You already have a ton of personality. Oh, and you're super strong. You head-butt us easily, and you'll have no problems learning to walk with those strong legs.
Xoxo,
Mommy
P.S. Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Busy tending to baby and lack of sleep, you understand. I hope to get back to our regularly scheduled programming ASAP.

Baby Talk

Dear Baby,
Wow. It has been a whirlwind of a week. Daddy and I can't believe how quickly time has gone. Tomorrow you'll be a week old. Everywhere we go people are falling in love with you and your beautiful head of black hair. You are absolutely perfect. Things you do not like: diaper changes, getting dressed, waiting. Things you do like: rides in the car seat, sleeping on Mommy's chest, bouncing around with Daddy, raising your little fists in the air as if to say "I win!" It's time to feed again, so I'll have to make this brief. We love you more and more each day, little raspberry.
Xoxox,
Mommy
