Dear Alexa,

Baby girl, you are nearing the home stretch on your first year. You are on the go all the time now. Just crawling and crawling and crawling. Standing and squatting, jumping while holding the rail in your crib, opening drawers and pulling things out.

Your daddy and I have our work cut out for us. We are constantly trailing you, making sure you do not try to eat an inedible object or cram your tiny fingers into the DVD player again.

Your favorite things to do are to rock out with your guitar or piano, read your books and chase us around the house.

I thought I'd be able to keep up with a week-by-week update, but I had no clue how quickly time would pass. I really didn't have a single clue.

Last year at this time I was waiting on pins and needles for your arrival. I was going to second and third opinions after the ultrasound specialist told me we should schedule a C-section. I was so worried about my birth plan and how it was being hijacked. How silly it all seems now. You arrived just like you were supposed to. Still, last year at this time there were a lot of tears of worry, and your daddy had to calm me down a lot.

He might have to calm me down in a few weeks when I sob uncontrollably at your first birthday party. My baby will be turning 1 soon!
